45 Things About Me: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

Almost 6 years ago, I launched Fortune Inspired. My first post was 39 Things You Don’t Know About Me. Fast forward to 2019 (yes, I am officially 45), and I thought I’d do an update so here it goes…the good, the bad, and the ugly.

1. I once stole gumballs from Saks 5th Avenue and I still feel guilty about that
2. I steal bites of food from my children’s plates when they’re not looking – not worried, they don’t read my blog anyway
3. I’ve acquired a taste for capers
4. I can apply lip liner with my eyes closed
5. Artichokes are my favorite vegetable
6. I’ve learned to say no – no explanations necessary
7. On the other hand, if someone tells me no, I linger till they change their mind
8. I’ll always be a Jersey girl at heart
9. There is nothing as pretty as being kind
10. I’m very much a victim of PMS.
11. I revel in catcalls from construction workers or whoever – time is running out
12. My favorite thing to do is laugh and to make others laugh as well
13. I’m a sucker for presents – both to give and receive
14. I once dressed up like Tina Turner when I was 12. Let’s just say, it was not a good look
15. I can burp louder and longer than David
16. The bathroom is my sanctuary
17. I’ve learned I’ll never be able to pack in carry on
18. I’ll always hate beets and liver (yes, I was forced to eat these as a child)
19. It took a while to understand what makes a real friend and forever grateful to those who taught me how to be a good one
20. Organizing is my therapy when I’m not in therapy
21. I do have little voices in my head that urge me to buy that bag and eat that cookie and I’m ok with it.
22. I never stick to just one cocktail 
23. I hate making reservations but I love being invited out
24. I love to lounge in flannel pajamas, fuzzy socks, and long cardigans – not the most attractive looks but the coziest
25. There are 2 categories – those who fold and those crumple. Let’s just say, I go through a lot of toilet paper
26. I favor independent bookstores and the scent of books
27. I’ll always love stickers, stationery, pens, and pencils
28. I’ll always love people
29. I failed my permit test 
30. I’ve eaten food off the floor – past the 5-second rule
31. In spite of my antics, quirkiness and all-out cookiness, David has decided to stick around
32. Unintentionally, I tend to be surrounded by wild animal lovers. Think squirrel rescuers and loyal deer feeders 
33. I have a low tolerance for people who walk slowly and who take up the entire sidewalk
34. I also have a low tolerance for telephone prompts. Give me the $#%* damn operator.
35. I feel most like myself when I dress preppy -think jeans, button-down shirt, cashmere sweater, blazer, and boots.
36. I can be cheesier than parmesan and I’m ok with that
37. I eat kosher-style but I’ve always wanted to try lobster, wear the bib, and dip the shrimp in the butter sauce. I just hope G-d doesn’t call me a shmuck when I get to heaven.
38. In another lifetime, I would like to dabble as a dancer, lawyer, talk show host or own a farm out west.
39. I’ve sent flowers to myself 
40. I can strike up conversation with anyone
41. I’ve lied and continue to lie about my height on my license. Does check-in at the airport really care?
42. I still live by my high school yearbook quote: “Things turn out best for those who make the best of the way things turn out”.
43. I love my name
44. I love my family 
45. I love my birthday
