My obsession with straw bags continue. Make that all things rattan, wicker, etc…I just can’t get enough (see recent post here). There are so many unique shapes with whimsical touches this season. Think round, jug shaped and lemon wedge if you will, with shell, pom pom and embroidery embellishments. My two favorites straw bags that I purchased since my previous post are Rachel Comey’s leather trimmed cross body bag. I’m obsessed with the round shape and the perfect price point. For a more sophisticated look, I sprang for Mark Cross’s x HVN boxed shape, top handle + cross body bag. Think must and lust. I’ve been wearing this bag day, evening, dressed up and dressed down and appreciate its versatility. As a side note, I have a girl crush on Harley Viera Newton. I love her retro, vintage designs. If you are not familiar with her dresses, you must check them out here.
For more of a summer beach vibe, I snagged two unusual Rosie Assoulin straw bags. One is inspired by Grecian urns and another, well, I’m assuming sea shells by the seashore. I imagine myself wearing these tooling around town, think Capri, if not, the boardwalk of Asbury Park. These bags can also take me to a pool soiree and a casual summer dinner out.
Speaking of Capri, for the past few seasons, Dolce & Gabbana has made gorgeous rattan bags with over the top crystal embellishments and hardware that dreams are made of. On the more practical side, you must check out J. Crew’s round straw cross body bag as well as Ulla Johnson’s wicker bucket shaped bag. Both of these darlings are easy breezy for summer. For a bit of the tropics, I’m really into this palm tree embroidered tote and lemon shaped clutch, they’re so clutch if you will.
