I kid you not when I tell you that over Passover break which we spent in Cabo, Mexico, I ate food from the garbage. How does a grown mature woman with the means to buy herself a meal dig deep into the trash?
Each night my husband would come up to the room with cookies and each night I would throw them in the garbage to avoid temptation. However, after a few drinks at dinner, I craved something sweet, hence I rummaged through the garbage. This is why I hereby declare May, Sugar Free Month (fruit allowed). In addition, in order to kick things up a notch (no pun intended), I will try 1 new fitness class each week for the entire month. The classes I have chosen are ones that have been on my to do list for way too long. This will be the perfect addition to help me on my journey to optimal health.
First on my list is Tracy Anderson. I have been dying to go ever since they opened downtown. This workout is a combination of cardio and a muscular structure workout. I have many friends who are loyal fans and now that they have officially opened midtown, it will be way more accessible.
Next on my list is 305 Fitness. I love the idea of a live DJ to heighten the energy to this 55 minute dance cardio party.
I recently heard about the The Rope Class at fitness boutique Bandier’s Studio B. I am a pretty decent jump roper and an am excited to channel my inner child. Perhaps I’ll wear pig tails to this class?
Last but not least on my list is Surf Set. It basically simulates surfing in the ocean – how cool! And since I have a fear of the deep blue sea, I thought this would be a perfect way to conquer it!
I will keep you updated every week after I experience each new class. Stay Tuned!

Love your honesty! I’m on board xoxox

Thank you Haley! So excited to have you on board! I’ve done these sugar cleanses before and with support, we’re sure to be successful! Definitely start off by planning your meals the night before so you wake up ready to start your day on the right foot. Keep a log of what you’ve been eating to keep you on track. Though we’re sure to experience sugar withdrawal, keep some low glycemic fruits on hand, i.e. blueberries, strawberries and grapefruit. Know that this too shall pass! Please email me at fortune@fortuneinspired.com before you think about grabbing a cookie! One more thing…my friend/nutritionist, Tanya Zuckerbrot always recommends eating fiber and lean protein at every meal to keep you satisfied!

I’m right there with you I ate things on the holiday that I don’t normally eat !! Asside from gaining a few pounds I felt horrible !! Yesterday when my husband suggested a bike ride to the city I thought that would be good exercise . I woke up today feeling much better !!

Exercise is always a great motivator! Good for you that you were proactive instead of digging deeper into the fridge!
Please share any other active outdoor activities that keep you going:)

this list is insane! I made the exact same one (minus the surfing which sounds cool)! Hopefully I will see you there! If you like Tracey and 305 you might like my Kickass_Cardio class I hear it’s similar!
Fortunee Dushey says
I heard amazing reviews about your class. Your energy and body are enough to get me there this summer!
Can’t wait!
Any fitness pointers to share with my readers who are looking for some motivation this May?
Jaclyn adjmi says
Sure! Push yourself past your limit! “feel the burn, love the burn and you’ll definitely feel a difference” I repeat this in my class a lot!

Hi Fortune,
I can honestly say I have eaten out of the garage too! And similarly it happened to me after I had a few glasses of red wine with dinner . I would love to go sugar free with you too ! Having a group of like minded women will be sure to keep us motivated … we can do this xo Kara
