Over the past few years turtlenecks have been slowly creeping into my closet. As a kid, you’d have to hold me down to get me to wear one – too tight and too itchy. These days, I feel like a fashion queen when I wear a turtleneck. They make a statement on their own, and look on point when layered underneath a jumpsuit or spaghetti strap dress.
They definitely keep me the warmest while channeling my inner Jackie O/Ali McGraw.
There are so many turtleneck options to choose from – think chunky wool cable knits, luxe cashmere, cotton and last but not least striped.
Here I chose a red and oatmeal cotton striped turtleneck by Kule. As you know by now, I’m a sucker for stripes and I love Kule’s colorful take on this classic. Think greens, greys and navy. I paired this with a cream colored cargo pant by Maison Kitsuné – trés Francaise.
You can find a striped turtleneck by Saint Laurent as well as Madewell. The options and price points are endless.
If you prefer solid to nautical, Acne makes a cool oversized black one, Rejina Pyo’s pastel yellow version will brighten anyone’s day, and for those who dare to crop, check out this red piece.
Though I’m not hitting the slopes this vacation, this printed turtleneck by Isabel Marant would be perfect for aprés ski. For those who are headed to warmer weather with cool-ish nights, I’m obsessed with this light jade boucle one by Sies Marjan.
For those looking for the softest cotton, fitted, layerable, well-priced, turtleneck, Majestic covers it all. My mother introduced me to these a few years back and I’ve now amassed my very own collection.
