I feel like I’m always in jeans which is not a bad thing, I love my denim but I wanted to add some pants to my repertoire, especially with warmer days ahead. I’m picky with pants and the perfect pair isn’t easy to come by. So you can only imagine my excitement when I came across these muted brown and yellow tapered plaid pants by Acne. I’m a big fan of the tapered leg as I find them flattering for my body type. Something to note…I shortened these plaid pants as they were meant to be cropped and I always like to show a little ankle. The elastic waist is a post lunch and dinner bonus. It also works well on marathon shopping days when you need to slip in and out of clothes quickly. Who says fashion and function don’t go hand in hand?
Back to the colors… they have a vintage feel to them. I wore the look on a recent trip to Austin and paired it with a cropped ivory long-sleeved cotton tee by Cotton Citizen and my go-to white leather platform sneakers by Common Projects. In keeping with the retro feel, I added these cat eye sunglasses by Lucy Folk and then balanced out the look with this ladylike brown leather bag by Mark Cross. I also see myself wearing these plaid pants with a faded printed tee. This look can be elevated by pairing the trousers with a heeled sandal and a white button down shirt or a light cashmere or silk tank.
Until we really get into the heat of things, think about adding a khaki trench or neutral blazer to complete your look.
