While reading other blogs, I always tend to click on posts titled What I Eat in a Day, as I am always curious and looking for inspiration for my own meals. I thought I’d share what my daily meal plan looks like (important to note this is on a good day). I’m always mindful to follow the FFactor way of eating – a high fiber and protein-based meal plan.
I start my day with some daily vitamins and then I sip my cup of hot water with lemon and one too many tablespoons of honey (this may not be FFactor approved). This is followed by my favorite breakfast of the moment, GG Pancakes (see recipe here). My girls love this breakfast as well and will add some bananas and dark chocolate chips for good measure. I tend to be a creature of habit, so when I find the perfect breakfast, I will eat it obsessively until I literally can’t – hence, I can’t look at peanut butter anymore. I will also nibble on some berries in the morning. Recently, I’ve been into strawberries as they have been super sweet this season. If I go out for breakfast, I always opt for poached eggs with guacamole – my all time favorite. When really pressed for time, I will grab a No Cow Bar.
If I meet friends for lunch, I’ll choose a mixed green salad with roasted salmon, tuna tartar or a salad nicoise. I either stare at the bread basket and hope for the best, and if my willpower is waning, I’ll muster up the courage to ask the waiter to remove it.
If I eat lunch on the run, I’ll carry two medium soft boiled eggs and a side of vegetables. While eggs aren’t necessarily the most fragrant, I have no shame when it comes to eating on the run so I bust out the Gladware in taxis, elevators and on the avenue. On occasion, I pick up a salad from Sweet Greens dressed with balsamic vinegar which totally hits the spot. If I’m home, it’s leftovers and they’re good ones. Here’s what it looks like.
Think blackened salmon (see recipe here), cabbage salad, and guacamole of course. As an in-between snack, I will grab a handful of raw almonds mixed with cashews and dark chocolate chips. When I’m in completely in FFactor mode, I will eat 4 GG Crackers topped with a low-fat cheese.
Dinner is always some kind of fish or chicken and salad plus roasted vegetables. Last night, I had roasted cauliflower with a delicious roasted dover sole, (stay tuned for this recipe next week) and a mixed Italian chopped salad (see recipe here).
After dinner, I will grab some more chocolate chips, my favorite one is Lily’s Dark Chocolate Chips and then do my best to stay out of the kitchen.
Ok…So here’s what a not so good day will look like…Same meals plus to many Fresh From the Heart cookies (they’re so darn good), a few drinks which if I’m looking to justify, is FFactor approved, but what happens is I sometimes lose control and in goes the slice of pizza, tootsie rolls, and more than a few bites of decadent dessert.
Moral of the story – though my good days do outweigh my bad ones, on those indulgent days, I comfort myself with the knowledge that tomorrow is a new day.
