Aspen Holiday

This holiday vacation, David and I traveled with the kids to Aspen, California. Just kidding… A favorite line from Dumb and Dumber.
We arrived in Colorado and stayed at The Little Nell which is by far my favorite hotel of all mountain resorts. The service was impeccable, the rooms luxurious and spacious (lots of closets for the ladies) and the staff highly attentive- seriously love them all!
Our week was filled with winter activities, quality time with family, friends and lots of good food and drinks of course:)
While my kids boarded and skied each day, I took advantage of the different winter activities.
I took a glorious hike up Smuggler Mountain that made for a challenging workout amid picturesque views.
I also went on a private snowshoeing tour on top of Ajax Mountain. I loved taking in the crisp fresh mountain air and as cheesy as it sounds, being one with nature.
For the other 3 days, I snowboarded at Buttermilk Mountain. Though known as a beginner mountain, they do have a ton of intermediate and black terrain. I personally enjoy cruising, so the green and blue suit me perfectly!
Most afternoons, we spent exploring the town, it’s charming boutiques and always paid a visit to Paradise Bakery for some hot chocolate, coffee and sweet delights.
One afternoon, we did the “apres ski thing” at Shlomo’s with friends and it was great fun. The food was delicious and I probably drank more than I should have but…when in Aspen….
Our nights were filled with cozy dinners with family and friends – I share my favorites below!
A real highlight of my trip was a surprise dinner I threw for my husbands 45th birthday at Mexican restaurant Mi Chola. I hired the most awesome DJ and organized for a photo booth from Social Lite. We ate and danced the night away – mission accomplished!

David and I, as well as our children, fell in love with Aspen more than any other ski resort (not that many…Beaver Creek and Snowmass but still…). They appreciated the charming town – quaint yet glamorous, enjoyed the people watching and yummy cuisine.

All in all, I love the mountain life and active lifestyle. There is nothing like feeling both exhilarated and satisfied at days end. Visiting Aspen during summer is next on my (very long) list of places to visit! I hear the flowers in full bloom are divine and activities are endless.

• Aspen Club – A few days before I arrived, I pulled a muscle in my back. The concierge at theLittle Nell recommended I visit the Aspen Club. Sarah, my physical therapist worked wonders! The whole team is super nice and highly qualified.
