Happy February! Now that we’re entering what I call the month of love, we’re turning a corner and that much closer to spring.
For those of you new to Fortune Inspired, each month I share my monthly fashion and lifestyle finds plus, some of the things I’ve been up to, shows I’ve been watching…that sorta thing.
Welcome!
Last month, I experienced NYC’s first snowfall of the season, which I always find delightful. There is something magical about seeing the city turn into a blanket of white, even if briefly.
Two TV series I recently watched are Apple’s fan-favorite – Shrinking and Netflix’s The Man on The Inside, both comedies. Typically, I stick with light hearted shows, historical fiction, or documentaries.
I tried two healthy recipes this month that turned out so yummy. The first is the viral banana bar that requires only 4 ingredients and will satisfy any sweet tooth. The second recipe, Pamela Salzman’s Vegetable Soup with Kale Pesto, is heavenly. I’m not a big soup person, so I don’t say this lightly; this dish is BURSTING with flavor and is a meal unto itself. If you don’t own her cookbook Kitchen Matters, I highly recommend you purchase it (the recipe is on page 96).
In the wellness space, I attended Joy Dushey’s the founder of The Joyful Approach meditation and sound bath experience which is healing and restorative. While Joy is my sister-in-law, she is a wealth of knowledge. Her classes are truly transformative. If you live in the NYC metropolitan area, you can check out future event here.
I also experienced my first ever Buccal facial massage with Aiza Karimova. The technique is designed to lift and tighten skin and improve circulation. I can’t wait to pay Aiza another visit, and next time, I also plan to try her lymphatic massage.
Additionally, I had the great honor of being featured in Mesoodar’s winter issue. Mesoodar is a Jewish fashion and lifestyle magazine and a chic one at that.
On my bedside table are Mel Robbins The Let Them Theory and Let’s Call Her Barbie by Rene Rosen. The former is a step-by-step guide on how to stop letting other people’s opinions, emotions, and judgment impact your life. The latter is a historical fiction that tells the story of the creators of Barbie.
Here are some recent fashion finds and pieces I’m currently coveting:
1. Johanna Ortiz Cotton Mini Wrap Skirt (I recommend sizing down 1 size).
2. Thierry Colson Embroidered Floral Print Cotton & Linen Shorts
3. Staud Gingham check Seersucker Swimsuit
4. Tanya Taylor Crochet Knit Dress with Long Bell Sleeves
5. Agua Bendita Embroidered Floral Cotton-Blend Shirt (I wore as a cover up)
6. Farm Rio Eyelet Cotton Pareo (I took a size small)
7. Vix Long Sleeve Cotton Cover-Up Wrap Dress
8. On Sneakers
9. The Row Brown Leather Sandals (90mm heel)
10. Anine Bing Denim Shorts
Other miscellaneous things I picked up are these sweet scalloped edged cocktail napkins for serving hors d’oeuvres, this Ramona and Ruth To Do List pad, How To End A Love Story novel, Sun Bum sunscreen spray and Wolford brown hosiery.
Travel-wise, I visited Harbour Island in the Bahamas for the first time. This was a 50th birthday gift from my husband and a destination that had been on my travel wish list for some time. We stayed at The Dunmore, a charming hotel on the beach (see IG images here, here and here). My luggage was temporarily lost for a day, so I’m now determined to pack a carry-on on my next trip . I do own a Rimowa carry-on, however, it’s quite heavy so I’m considering purchasing a lighter weight one from Away. A friend of mine also recommended The Halfday The Garment Duffle Bag which sits on top of the carry on for additional packing allowance. I will keep you posted on all of the above.
And… that’s all folks! Wishing you all a lovely February. Stay tuned for more fashion and lifestyle content coming your way.
