Early September equals transition in so many ways – back to school, back to the grind and coming to terms with this unpredictable weather. This gave me reason to transition from summer to pre fall fashion. My go to for weather like this is the quintessential fall trench coat. Depending on your style, there are countless iterations of this classic look. The trench here is by French label ba&sh (see similar one here). I discovered this piece on Instagram and it immediately found its way into my closet. I love the olive/khaki color and easy loose fitting silhouette. I prefer to push up the sleeves for a bit of attitude and leave the coat open and the belt untied.
I threw the trench over these white wide legged cropped jeans by Rachel Comey.
The rule for wearing white post labor day is…there is no rule. For a little funk, I added this oversized graphic Gucci tee and for a lot of comfort, I chose my favorite platform white sneakers by Common Projects. This can definitely be worn with ankle boots as well, but for now, I still like to show a little ankle. To highlight the fall in this look, I chose a rich brown suede box bag by Mark Cross, inspired by Grace Kelly. I had the wicker version for spring and summer which I adored and received countless compliments on, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this suede version. This easy look is ideal for running around NYC – think drop offs, pick ups and everything in between.

THANK YOU for rejecting the “no white after Labor Day” rule. I’m so with you on that. Loving this whole look; and I transition my pre-fall trench coat with sweaters, leggings, long sleeve shirts, etc. When I was a kid, I had a bubblegum pink trench coat – just felt like sharing that, hahaha.
