With September less than a month away, I thought I’d dedicate this post to affordable fall transitional pieces. Those in-between season months when it’s not full-on summer or fall can be somewhat of a challenge for us ladies when it comes to getting dressed so… I rounded up some essential fall transitional pieces under $300.
Hope these pieces inspire and get you excited to embrace Fall come September.
Sweater Weather
One of my favorite brands to shop for sweaters is Reformation. Their styles are flattering, they wear well, and they come at an affordable price point. Right now I have my eyes on this cashmere and tank set in oatmeal and Parisian blue. The cropped tank can be worn on its own with anything high-waisted and can be worn casually with sweats or denim or dressed up at night with a pair of trousers. It’s also a great piece when layered underneath a blazer. It’s always nice to have a set, especially when the temps begin to dip.
I’m also all over this camel cashmere v-neck sweater. I love a relaxed fit. This color is super chic and as I consider this to be a neutral. It can be paired beautifully with navy, grey, brown, and black.
Another favorite affordable brand to shop for fall transitional pieces is Kule. This season I have my eyes on their navy/cream stripe sweater. This 100% cashmere crewneck sweater will definitely take me to many places. As most of you may know by now, I am a sucker for stripes and this preppy cool brand is always my go-to. For those of you looking for a pop of color, check out their multi-stripe v-neck sweater. This style has a boxy fit and I love the way they styled it on their site.
Kules long-sleeve tees and paper-thin turtlenecks are also must-haves. Be sure to check out their new elevated cashmere sweatsuit set – I am obsessed!

Button Up
When it comes to blouses, this Reformation long sleeve cotton-voile Victorian shirt is at the top of my to-buy list for fall. I love the lace detail and the puff shoulder. This feminine romantique top comes in black and cream.
For a super casual yet neat look, I am all about the henley. This lightweight ribbed jersey by Nili Lotan is a winner and comes in black and white.
I also had to include this supersoft denim button-down by one of my favorite shirt brands, Frank & Eileen. This chambray shirt will make for the perfect Canadian tuxedo look.

Put On Your Positive Pants
This past spring I discovered Alex Mill, a timeless, classic brand. Alex Mill also happens to be the son of Mickey Drexler, former boss of J. Crew and Gap.
This fall, their long sleeve khaki jumpsuit is on my wish list. I have their spring version and I have been wearing it on repeat. This hooded sweater jumpsuit and this grey sweater jumpsuit are both awesome sauce.
When it comes to denim, I have many must-haves. First up are these balloon jeans by Madewell, a classic 80’s style that I can’t get enough of. A Golde’s 90’s pinch waist jean in faded black is another must-have. I guess I’m all about the decades and relaxed styles. These also come in a faded blue colorway.

There are 3 essentials when it comes to transitional fall jackets/coats – the trench, the blazer, and the denim jacket.
No one does an affordable classic khaki trench better than J. Crew. This easy relaxed style is the perfect transitional piece and is roomy enough to layer over a sweater underneath.
I am so mad for this oversized plaid 70’s style blazer by Madewell. I love that boyfriend relaxed look and would pair this with a cool tee or lightweight sweater and a pair of jeans.
To complete my affordable fall transitional piece round-up, I had to include Madewell’s trucker jean jacket. I typically wear this over my workout attire or any outfit for that matter. This oversized style adds a bit of a cool factor if ya know what I mean.
