During the spring 2017 spring shows, designers sent models down the runway in different iterations of overalls, all of which I would like to get my hands on and legs in.
I have childhood memories of basking in my Oshkosh B’gosh collection and I remember my aunt Roxanne Assoulin, aka uber kool jewelry designer wearing them as well, usually with one strap hanging down just so. Anything that she wore, well, was just cool.
Interesting to note, overalls actually date back to 1945 and were worn as work clothes by farmers, carpenters, painters and railroad workers.
By the 19070’s overalls became a fashion trend for the first time. They had a resurgence in the 90’s, yet again in 2014, and show no signs of slowing down.
In the spring and summer time, I typically wear overalls with a tank, bikini or one piece bathing suit and finish the look with clogs or hightops. This fall, I plan on transitioning them with either a blazer on top or turtleneck underneath and perhaps socks, ankle booties and a beanie when the temps get really cold.
Below are some looks from Spring 2017. Choose from wide legged, cropped, to flare and relaxed, there are many options. ‘Overall’, they’re looking good:)!
