I finally did it! I rode the mechanical bull!
I do not know where my desire to ride a mechanical bull came from, but I knew in my heart that before summers end, I would have to take the bull by the horns and do it.
Almost two years ago, I made my first attempt at riding the bull with my dear friend Marci. We braved our behinds in the cold all the way to the basement of Johny Utah’s in midtown Manhattan only to be denied access because we did not have our license ( note: drivers license not bull riding license). I begged and I pleaded but to no avail. It was an absolute buzz kill.
I did wait some time before my second attempt and I returned 2 week ago (with my mental bucket list in tow) to Johny’s.
This time, I dragged Marci and my husband with me, license in hand of course, where all of us experienced the thrill of riding the bull.
Not trying to “toot my own horn,” but I think I had the most talent at bull riding.
I feel so accomplished to have crossed this off my bucket list, clearing the way for my next adventure.
Stylist note:
Though I do recommend wearing jeans to ride a mechanical bull or any bull for that matter, I went out of the box and wore a linen denim colored skirt by Joie with a denim corset bra top by Rachel Comey. Of course I had a denim jacket to finish off my western inspired look!
Some personal advice from an old pro: Do not bull ride on a full stomach. I got queazy and it made me feel uneasy.
