My husband and I recently returned from a trip to St. Barths. It sucked! Yeah right!
French savoir faire, white sandy beaches, chic restaurants and the kind of shopping that we girls dream about, make this my favorite in the Caribbean. For the first time since visiting the island, I hiked down to Columbier Beach who’s only other access is by boat. The views were picture perfect, surrounded by mountain and sea. I was among other hikers, thankfully slow moving turtles, lizards and butterflies, so I was in good in company.
We stayed at the Cheval Blanc Isle de France for the first time. Having stayed at others on the island, this was my favorite. The Guerlain Spa is a must to soothe the muscles, especially after an active day of tequila.
Though we really did not venture out for lunch, I would recommend the Eden Rock. They have a fantastic menu and a cool vibe.
For dinner, our favorite was L’Isola, a cozy Italian restaurant in Gustavia. We loved Black Ginger, a casual Thai restaurant in town.
Unexpectedly, St. Barths is really into celebrating Halloween. Though I don’t really celebrate, I brought along a pink wig to get into the spirit. I mean, who doesn’t travel with a pink wig? How fortunate was I as it came in handy. We dined at Bagatelle on Halloween Eve and anyone with a heart beat showed up dressed in full costume. As an aside, the food was surprisingly delicious.
I did a bit of drunk shopping this trip. Poupette and Lolita Jaca are always my go to’s. Thankfully no regrets the day after.
The shop at the Eden Rock has a wonderfully eclectic curated selection of beach wear and accessories.
La Chemise Tropezienne is essentially a mens boutique with a small section for women. They carry great basic shorts and light weight shirts. Everyone comes home happy.
Wonderful weather, fantastic food and splendid shopping equals a magical destination vacation!
