Mini skirts are back in a major way. I first took notice of this trend at Miu Miu’s 2022 spring collections where the khaki micro mini ruled the runway and was one of the most coveted pieces of the spring season. Fast forward to this fall/winter season and this ’90s trend is here to stay (though it was first popularized in the mid ’60s). Mini skirts are fun and flirty and when styled tastefully, can make a pretty cool fashion statement.
Here are 3 ways to wear the mini:
Why don’t you?
- Pair your mini skirt with an oversized sweater, a pair of tights, and chunky boots a la combat or Chelsea.
- Pair your mini skirt with an oversized blazer, a pair of loafers, or Mary Janes.
- Pair your mini with a silk blouse for a bit of softness and sophistication, a pair of textured tights, and platform heels or stilettos.
Women Who Wear Black Lead Colorful Lives
In particular, lots of black minis, this season. On the bright side, the color black has staying power and if we live by the quote I mentioned above, we are certainly in for an adventurous season ahead. The uniqueness of these black minis lay in their fabrics – think velvet, bouclé, corduroy, and wool blends.
The mini-est skirt of them all this season is this high waist wrap skirt by Coperni. There are currently limited sizes available on Net-a-Porter so I also included a link here to Farfetch just in case, as both sites carry the same skirt.
As I mentioned above, I will style a mini with an oversized sweater and a chunky boot or loafer. For the evening, I might pair this with a cropped tank under a boyfriend blazer and again, finish off the look with a chunky loafer or even a Mary Jane with a thick rubber sole.
Another mini skirt that is definitely worth checking out is this super elegant velvet mini with button detail by Brit designer Alessandra Rich. I love this paired with a silk blouse or cami.
All You Need Is Love And Leather
When it comes to the leather mini skirt, I’m all about this luxe belted (soft as butter) option by Khaite. It’s kind of like a motorcycle jacket but in a skirt. This skirt fits small to size so the site suggests going one size up.
A more affordable and “conscious” leather skirt is this AGolde a-line mini made from 50% recycled materials.
Denim Is Always A Good Idea
I scored myself a cute denim skirt this past spring by CH so yes, it feels good to be on trend, and yes, I do agree that denim is a good idea! Ganni’s classic style in black is at the top of my list and for those who love the Khaite leather style but maybe not the price tag that comes along with it, they make this denim version that is “slightly” more affordable.
Texture For The Win
I’m always down for a bit of floral come winter. This a-line floral print mini by Cara Cara is uh-mazing and I can’t wait to sport it this upcoming season. Also coveting this cool and casual blue corduroy mini that can be worn day into night. I like this styled with the matching oversized corduroy button-down shirt, both by Isabel Marant.
How do you plan to wear your mini this season?
