Summer is officially here woohoo! Looking forward to some downtime time at the beach, and hosting close family and friends outdoors.
What to wear to intimate poolside gatherings has been a popular topic of late.
I’m here to say that beach cover-ups are always my first choice as they’re an instant outfit. Does it get better than that?
I also find that cover-ups typically don’t go out of style, therefore, if you choose wisely, ie investments pieces, they will take you from one season to the next. Think classic and comfortable and you’ll always have something beautiful to wear.
Come summer, more accurately -always, I’m on the lookout for beach cover-ups. For whatever reason, finding the right cover-up is not as easy as it seems so when I do come across one that I love, I go for it – plus who doesn’t love a refresh?
I recently scoured the vacation shop on the My Theresa site looking for the perfect summer cover-up that would take me to the next barbeque and/or dinner al fresco.
As always I found so many fun options that I’m excited to share with you guys.
At the top of my list is this multi-colored bohemian kaftan by Missoni Mare. This is what I consider an investment piece that has staying power and that can take me from summer to warm weather getaways.

I’m a fan of the 3/4 inch bell sleeves which I find flattering. I also love the way this kaftan loosely drapes the body while still showing some peek-a-boo action thanks to the side slits and sheer silhouette. This cover-up works perfectly with a flat sandal or an espadrille wedge. P.S I took this in a size 40 because I like things on the looser side.

When it comes to beach cover-ups one of my go-to brands is Poupette, a brand based in St. Barths. This summer I have my eye on their Japanese inspired maxi cover-up. I’m a sucker for a kimono-style silhouette and this fabric feels like a second skin.
Because I’m on the petite side, I would probably shorten this piece a few inches to show some leg.
Speaking of kimonos, this super chic red breathable linen print kimono by Johanna Ortiz is what poolside/vacation dreams are made of.
Also worth noting by Johanna Ortiz is this elegant sheer maxi cover-up with a gorgeous voluminous sleeve. I love that its lightweight. So perfect for a balmy summer day.

For those of you who would like to bring a bit of Capri to your own back yard, this cotton lemon printed wrap dress is cosi bello as in so beautiful!
Last but not least, I went ahead and rounded up a couple of flirty skirts, pareos, and floral pants. I also added some top options like this white one-piece swimsuit which is a summer staple, a cropped white cotton tee and for those who dare to bare, these bralettes that help complete the outfit!
