This year my husband and I decided to treat our high school freshman to a three day intersession break. After 8 days of grueling mid-term exams, our daughter Vivian was excited to laze in the sun and recharge (any excuse for us!). Turks and Caicos never disappoints with it’s pristine beaches and calm turquoise sea. The tranquility and ease of this island has brought me back here seven consecutive years in a row (see previous post here). I can truly unwind, relax and recharge. It’s close proximity from NYC also makes for a stress free and easy travel day.
We stayed at the Gansevoort, our favorite boutique hotel on the island, where we took advantage of it’s Exhale Spa, and then rolled right on to our lounges at the beach. We were content to relax, read, listen to music, play cards, dine (and drink…). We also had time for tubing, paddle boarding, and shell hunting.
Our favorite lunch spot, Somewhere, is a Mexican dive located on the beach. For dinner, we visited our two faves – Coyoba and Coco Bistro. It was great quality time with Vivian and though she pleaded for this trip, we were happy that we agreed. It’ so cliche but true that time flies and our kids grow up in the blink of an eye (except when they’re being total pain in the arsses). Quality time is priceless and we got to enjoy our sweet, spicy, soulful teen. Until next time…
Until next time…
