With the cold months upon us, we tend to spend more time indoors. A meaningful and creative hobby that I return to during these months is scrapbooking.
When my oldest daughter started kindergarten, I began documenting her first day of school with photos and have continued to do so through her academic career. I also saved her report cards and class photos which I organize annually in a scrapbook. Of course, I followed suit with my two younger children and plan to present each of them with a scrapbook at their high school graduation.
Scrapbooking has always been a creative outlet and one that can be translated into a meaningful memento. I probably took this hobby too far years ago when I looked into signing up for a scrapbooking cruise. Needless to say… I never set sail. I do enjoy browsing arts and crafts stores, most recently AC Moore, for stickers, collage paper and embellishments. This meaningful project which is really a life story of sorts, is something that I hope my children will cherish. For those who view this as intimidating, it’s easier than it sounds and doesn’t require a whole lot of time.
This June, my daughter graduates high school (b”h) and I am both excited and emotional about presenting her with this heartfelt gift.
