I have been seeing the same hair stylist, Garren since I was 21 and had remained loyal until the closing of his salon last spring. Ok so not exactly 100 percent faithful, with two brief affairs if you will. I always felt the most confident and comfortable in his chair and never disappointed but I took this opportunity to play. I checked out Vogue on line, took recommendations from a beauty insider; add that to some impulsivity and I ended up with a mullet hair cut with bangs. In the mullet making process, half my hair was sheared off. Not sure how this happened but the mullet must go! I think bangs are about attitude and I am still trying to rock my inner Jane Birkin so TBD.
In the mean time, a few lessons I’ve learned.
Hair does grow back though I just read that at 40, one’s hair begins to thin. Yay me.
The more recommendations you get, the better.
Bringing photos for inspiration is a must when working with someone new.
Garren, I miss you.

My dearest Mullet Friend… Not a long while ago I
Became tired and frustrated w my stylist.. She’s brilliant w the scissors a true Edward scissor hand if u will, but she’s brutal to deal with.
She works in Warren Tricomi. Most of the stylists there are polished, stylish, immaculate and professional…She, is not. She’s Greek, never on time, never can keep an assistant, talks on and on about her kitchen renovation(now approaching two years) wears an insane amount of dangling noisy jewelry, and is sloppy, lacks style and hasn’t an ounce of professionalism. She’s a fortune as is the parking lot and all that it entails tips etc…
I put up with her because she’s amazing and the only area of perfection she owns as far as I can see, is in her haircuts… So off to the Greek I (usually) go. I too cheated and had an affair on her and ended up with someone who thought my head of hair was an onion that needed to be chopped and minced.I must have offended every Greek G-d because I was punished! I cried, I bitched, I suffered.
I had more layers than a seven later cake. Months later came the grown out mullet. Gd help me!
I went back to the Greek… She cursed me out in Greek and evened me out by adding chunky bangs and cutting my longest layer short enough to meet the rest of the layers. So here I am, on the growing out stages w bangs that I really love but waiting for the length to return… Let’s just say I get a lot of blowouts and bought two amazing fall/winter fedoras. It doesn’t hurt to have a pretty face so I inagine your suffering shouldn’t be severe…and yes the thinning at 40 is true… I say rock the layers the bangs and just add more bronzer and lip gloss… You’ll be fine… But hey next time can we get a full face frontal??!!
