Spring is less than 2 weeks away (12 days to be exact), which means that my transitional wardrobe essentials will be top of mind until I officially do my spring switch-up (this usually occurs during the first 2 weeks of April).
Most of the items featured are classic fashion staples, i.e. investment pieces that you can rely on season after season.
Let’s begin with the trench coat!
I love a khaki trench and will wear this outerwear favorite from March through early November. On warmer days, simply layer this over a tee and for chilly weather, a cashmere or cotton knit always does the trick. Another chic (and cozy) way to style this coat is with a sweater tied around the neck.
Max Mara (water-repellent), Khaite (water-resistant), and Nili Lotan all offer lightweight, slimming silhouettes that effortlessly carry you into spring.
This Banana Republic trench coat with a relaxed fit is a more affordable, but equally chic option – definitely worth checking out!

The cargo pant is trending this spring in a major way and I am so here for it. I’m all about versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down.
At the top of my list are these Ralph Lauren khaki cargos with an ankle zip at the hem. I wore these on a recent vacation with Bottega Veneta raffia sandals (shop a similar version here) and an orange-striped button-down shirt tied at the waist.
Another recent cargo purchase are these ecru Marant Etoile jeans;
I like to think of these as an elevated cargo pant option. For reference, I took these in a size 36 – the fit is fabulous.
If you love a tonal look like I do, consider pairing this with a cream crewneck sweater.

The denim jacket is another transitional essential that can be styled in multiple ways like layered over a hooded sweatshirt, cashmere sweater, or basic tee. It can also be worn tied around the waist or draped across the shoulders.
These light blue jackets by Khaite and Courrège are both winners. For the “cool girl”, Khaite also makes this oversized fit. 7 For All Mankind makes this must-have easy trucker version at a gentler price point. AGolde’s classic denim version with a relaxed fit is also worth a look.

On to blazers. Blazers are another transitional option that adds a bit of polish to one’s outfit. I’m a fan of this Acne black blazer that remains a go-to of mine season after season and by that, I mean all 4 seasons, year after year. I always appreciate a relaxed yet versatile wardrobe staple.
If you’re looking for a blazer with some attitude, I’m all about this Toteme blazer with a tonal tie that will accentuate your waist – super flattering! This comes in both beige and black.

I’m stripe obsessed so this cream and navy striped cotton sweater is at the top of my spring transitional essentials list. Another striped knit that has my heart is this charming Chloe cropped style with a flared cuff.
Speaking of cropped knits, this Max Mara black knit cropped top with a racerback style is a fab go-to layering piece when worn under blazers and cardigans, and can obviously also be worn on its own when the temps begin to heat up.
A go-to sweater with a flattering collared v-neckline (and price point to boot) is this camel style by Reiss– the perfect knit to accessorize with a scarf or to layer your favorite necklaces with.

This ladylike, pale yellow leather shoulder bag with a gold flip lock by The Row remains a favorite. I also like that there is a top-handle option. Shop it in a rich dark brown tone here.
For a bit of whimsy, I adore this darling heart-shaped leather shoulder bag by Alaia. This bag comes in red, white, and camel.

My favorite sneakers of the moment are these ultra-chic Loewe suede sneakers in a beige suede and black leather – an instant way to elevate an outfit. Please note, I mean this literally as these sneakers have a hidden 1.5-inch wedge. Similarly swoon-worthy, and also by Loewe, is this pair of kicks in a copper-brown colorway.
When I was in Madrid last summer, I passed so many fashionistas wearing the Converse platform high top. This is a fun, affordable option with a downtown vibe and one I certainly plan on adding to my collection!
