39 Things I Love About Summer

I can’t believe 6 months have passed since my blog launch and I am now celebrating my half year anniversary! Yay me!!! In honor of this milestone, my 39 list below is 39 Things I love About Summer, on the Jersey Shore of course, because that is where I bunker down. You down?

I love summer because:

I don’t have to wait for the elevator at my beach house

Fruits and vegetables are juicier, sweeter and crunchier

Wearing sandals forces me to put color on my toes and wait out the drying period

Who doesn’t like being caught by surprise by hidden cop cars on random streets. A grown up game of hide and seek if you will

The days are longer and the nights are shorter

“We” all have no homework

I can let my hair go au natural (ok so I did keratin a month ago but still…)

My summer house has bigger closets

New Jerseyans don’t make Snookie jokes

I am forced to shave my legs more often (just kidding, I’m on it most of the time)

Reggae sounds best now

I love the smell of suntan lotion even though scrubbing off the scent can be a b*tch

I have more time in the summer to nurse my hangovers

Sometimes doing nothing is ok

I love Stop n Shop

I can make a right turn on red

I don’t have to stress about making reservations

I have generous friends who invite me over for great food and cocktails

New Jersey waiters will sometimes pronounce Mozerella cheese like Mozerell, omit the “a” sound and that is A ok

They will also sometimes pronounce Branzino like Branzini and that too is ok

Cleaners are cheaper in the burbs

I drive more which gives me the chance to get current on the top 10 songs of the moment. “Why you Gotta Be So Rude” being my favorite

Because we could all use a little vitamin D

I get to go to the same quaint post office I’ve known since I can remember and ponder on the selection of stamps

I get to drive around in my SUV and feel like the suburban mom. So what if I have no kids in the back seat

I get to regress to my teenage years being around my parents more often

No one bangs on the roof of your car if you accidentally stop short

I have more time to read articles like “7 Signs You’re Having a Heart Attack”

All the flowers are blooming- awwww

I get to exercise outdoors

I reconnect with summer friends

Renewed hope that each summer this is the summer I will be beach body ready

Suburban street names have so much more personality

Even if the car ahead of me is slow, can I say I’m really ever in a rush?

Who doesn’t love the smell of mussels??

Sunshine and wine make the perfect cocktail

Who doesn’t love the challenge of swatting at flys all day

Throwing together a few salads makes me feel like a seasoned chef

Watching my kids collect fireflies is nostalgic and sweet
